What are BS
standards?
Bharat Standards or Bharat Stage was first implemented in
the year 2000 to regulate the amount of exhaust gases emitted from a vehicle.
Since 2000, Indian Government has implemented various norms to match the global
standards.
What are the main
exhaust gases?
Hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrous oxide (NOX)
and particulate matters (PM) are the 4 main exhaust gases.
HC and CO are more prevalent in gasoline engines, whereas NOX
and PM are more prevalent in diesel engines.
